I founded Prema Consultants to bring much-needed clarity and support to the complex process of finding long-term care options for loved ones. My journey into this field began with my personal experiences and the invaluable lessons learned from my family.
Growing up in Western Canada as the daughter of Hungarian immigrants, my childhood was shaped by the smallness of our extended family and the tight-knit bond we had. My father, who suffered multiple strokes at the age of 40, required care that we simply couldn't provide
ourselves. At the time, I was only 10 years old, and though I longed to help, the reality was that my mother had to continue running our family business while also raising me. This period taught me the importance of accessible, supportive care and how essential community resources, like meal services, can provide immense help. Despite my father's young age, independent living facilities provided him with a sense of community and care that allowed him to live safely for another decade. The experience of seeing my father thrive with the help of those around him became a pivotal moment in my life, instilling in me a deep understanding of how vital quality care can be.
The loss of my father at an early age sparked my desire to live life to its fullest and fueled my decision to travel and live around the world. It also led me to immigrate to America, where I faced the overwhelming complexities of healthcare systems, especially when it comes to insurance and managed care. I was determined to understand this world better, and so I spent over a decade working in the medical management field. My experience in leading and driving organizational development within the healthcare industry taught me invaluable lessons on how systems work, and most importantly, how they don’t always work for people who need them the most.
My professional journey was profoundly shaped by a heartbreaking experience in my personal life. My mother, who had been battling breast cancer, chose not to share her diagnosis with me. I found out too late—when I was sitting beside her in a Canadian emergency room, learning that her cancer had already spread and there were no treatment options left but hospice care. Her passing a few weeks later, without having the chance to benefit from the full spectrum of care and options available to her, was a painful reminder of how vital it is for people to have access to accurate information and support when navigating health challenges.
As I grew older and saw friends and loved ones facing their own health concerns, I began to think about my own future. Many of my friends started asking themselves similar questions:
What will happen when we can no longer care for ourselves? With that in mind, I took it upon myself to become an expert in this field—not just for me, but for those who don’t know what’s available to them. My mission now is to help others make the right decisions when it comes to care for themselves or their loved ones, ensuring they can navigate this journey with peace of mind and clarity.
This is why Prema Consultants exists. The name "Prema," meaning unconditional and selfless love in Sanskrit, reflects my core mission: to guide families and individuals through the difficult decisions surrounding long-term care. I work tirelessly to provide personalized, compassionate support during what can often be an emotional and overwhelming process. I am here to be the trusted partner people need when faced with tough choices. It is my privilege to assist families in finding the best care options that match not only the medical needs but also the personal preferences and lifestyle of the individual.
Based in Agoura Hills, CA, I am deeply committed to my community and my love for nature and animals. When I’m not working, you’ll find me hiking, gardening, or enjoying time with my two beloved cats.
